Saved by the Bell follows five best friends during their time at Bayside High School in Los Angeles. The show covered all walks of high school life, from Zack Morris, the consummate schemer and rabble rouser to A.C. Slater, the amiable jock, to Screech the lovable geek, to Jessie Spano the feminist scholar, to Kelly Kapowski the teenage dream girl. At its best, the show was aspirational, showing a school that had almost zero ties to reality, and seemed to exist in some happier Day-glo universe. You either knew people like them, or you wanted to.
War and Peace broadly focuses on Napoleon's invasion of Russia in 1812 and follows three of the most well-known characters in literature: Pierre Bezukhov, the illegitimate son of a count who is fighting for his inheritance and yearning for spiritual fulfillment; Prince Andrei Bolkonsky, who leaves his family behind to fight in the war against Napoleon; and Natasha Rostov, the beautiful young daughter of a nobleman who intrigues both men. As Napoleon's army invades, Tolstoy brilliantly follows characters from diverse backgrounds—peasants and nobility, civilians and soldiers—as they struggle with the problems unique to their era, their history, and their culture.
Set in futuristic Metro City, Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist in the image of the son he has lost. Unable to fulfill the grieving man's expectations, our hero embarks on a journey in search of acceptance—experiencing betrayal and a netherworld of robot gladiators. Returning to save Metro City, he seeks to reconcile with the father who had rejected him.
Ratchet & Clank focuses on Ratchet, a furry alien creature, and Clank, a nerdy little robot, going on a quest to find Captain Qwark and ultimately to help save the galaxy. The game has over twenty levels (planets) and includes as many real-time cut-scenes which tell the story. Also of note is that the story is non-linear, requiring the player to return to previous levels to complete objectives and to choose between multiple paths forward.
FBI Agents Mulder and Scully are responsible for the "X-Files," cases that involve paranormal activity and are deemed "unsolvable" by the rest of the agency. Mulder is convinced that there is something out there: the existence of alien life, a government cover-up, or both. Scully is brought in as a foil to the eccentric Mulder to keep in check his conspiracy theories. However, the events that they witness together make it pretty difficult for Scully to remain a skeptic.
Jay Pritchett is the patriarch of a chaotic and intertwined "modern" family. Jay was married to DeDe, the flighty mother of his children Claire and Mitchell who are now grown up with children (and challenges) of their own. Jay is now remarried to a fiery Latina named Gloria, who has a son from a prior marriage. Gloria does not feel entirely accepted at times, suspecting (correctly) that Claire, Jay's daughter who is roughly the same age as Gloria, thinks Gloria is a "gold digger."
Red Dead Redemption is a Western epic, set at the turn of the 20th century when the lawless and chaotic badlands began to give way to the expanding reach of government and the spread of the Industrial Age. A follow up to the 2004 hit Red Dead Revolver, this game tells the story of former outlaw John Marston, taking players on a great adventure across the American frontier.
