Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew Up… in secrecy. After birth, Leia was hidden from the evil intergalactic Empire, expected to one day rise up and help to lead a great rebellion. Her mother died in childbirth and Leia’s true identity was kept even from herself.

Living… currently in captivity, on the Death Star, an enormous floating fortress in outer space. She was captured by Darth Vader, the warlord in charge of the Death Star, during a battle with an Imperial fleet. But Leia is holding her own against Darth Vader’s questioning. She’s hoping to be rescued, having sent a message for help to a mysterious Jedi, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Profession… Princess of Alderaan. Leia isn’t your run-of-the-mill royalty. She doesn’t sit on a throne somewhere and let everyone else do her bidding. She’s got kick and spunk. Leia is one of the leaders in the military rebellion against the Empire. She spends most of her time fighting the good fight, and making a name for herself while doing it.

Interests… blasters (think “space-guns”). She has always been a tomboy, sharpening her stiff upper lip where others might crumble and cry. She likes to get a rise out of people almost as much as she likes proving she’s right.

Relationship Status… single. Her beauty is renowned, but her assertiveness and unwillingness to suffer fools can make her hard to get close to. It takes a man with equal grit to get past her hard exterior.

Challenge… winning the war against the Empire. First she needs to be rescued, then she needs to get revenge. She, as well as many others, has devoted herself entirely to the cause of the rebellion. Although the rebels may lose battles, the larger fight must continue to the last soldier. Leia believes this wholeheartedly and would die for the cause before seeing it fade away.

Personality… hard-headed, self-righteous, and sassy. Leia has a great deal of integrity, and although she acts as an individualist, she also has a strong sense of teamwork and the importance of collective efforts. She’s out for the victory of the many, rather than personal gain. She isn’t the easiest person to work alongside or under, but her intellect and military mind alone are enough to attract people to her side of the battle.
