Character Analysis

Grew Up… gambling, cheating, and otherwise making trouble.
Living… with a beastly Wookie, Chewbacca, and a ragtag group of Jedi (and would-be Jedi) freedom fighters, who offered to pay Han for transport in his starship, the Millennium Falcon. Han doesn’t necessarily believe in their cause, the rebellion against the tyrannical Empire. Nor does he believe in the power of Jedi magic; he says, “There’s no mystical energy field that controls my destiny.” But when he learns that the princess they’re trying to save is rich, he’s all hands on deck.
Profession… smuggler, mostly. Han Solo is a well-known gambler and thief. He’s made a name for himself as a classic bad boy. But that doesn’t mean he’s not able to do good and feel good doing it. He proves himself a loyal friend, even if he is conflicted about it for some time. He proves that you can’t judge a professional criminal by his cover.
Interests… money and racing. The only thing Han Solo loves more than flying really, really fast through outer space is making money while doing it. He’d stick his neck on the line for a king’s ransom. If there isn’t a pile of cash at stake, though, Han would prefer to keep his neck safe, thank you very much.
Relationship Status… single. He’s not easily tamed. He’s obviously been with many women over the years, and doesn’t appear to plan on settling down anytime soon. He likes sassy, strong-willed women, as seen with the love-hate relationship that quickly develops between Han and Princess Leia, once they rescue her and she starts barking royal orders at him.
Challenge… keeping the Millennium Falcon flying, despite countless Imperial attacks and crash landings. The ship has seen many battles, but it might just be on its last legs. One more trip into light speed could mean the end of their quest to rescue the Princess, thereby halting the entire Rebel Alliance.
Personality… suave, devil-may-care. Han Solo claims to be only out for his own head—and maybe that of his partner-in-crime Chewbacca. When it comes to helping out others pro bono, Han needs a little pushing. O.K., a lot. But he ends up having a soft side. And beneath all his money-grubbing and fast-talking, he’s as much of a hero as the young Jedi Luke Skywalker.

This is the second of three video games released under the Empire Strikes Back title for home video game systems. It was preceded by a version for the Atari 2600 and succeeded by Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back for the SNES.
