Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Living... under a rock. Literally. Patrick is an easy-going starfish who doesn’t need much more than a big heavy rock to drop on himself before he goes to sleep. He lives in Bikini Bottom, a town at the bottom of the ocean, down the block from his best friend Spongebob.
Profession... unemployed, but he gets by with an odd job here and there. He’s great to call if you need to lift something heavy, or if your band needs a real steady drumbeat. Plus, being Spongebob’s best bud is a full-time job. He goes on too many adventures to be stuck behind a desk.
Interests… eating. You can tell by looking at him; his big belly gives this away. He can eat a double Krabby Patty from the Krusty Krab in a single bite, and he does it often (even at 3 a.m). He also likes jellyfishing and generally getting into mischief with Spongebob.
Relationship Status... single, just like Spongebob. It gives them more time to hang out. He has lots of friends, though. Who wouldn’t want to spend time with the equivalent of a big undersea teddy bear?
Challenge... being very, very dumb. He is the first to admit he’s not at all book-smart. But his biggest struggles stem from his lack of common sense. He often forgets how to do easy things like chew food, which can make life difficult. Even menial tasks like putting a lid on a jar are too complicated for Patrick’s underdeveloped intellect.
Personality... loyal and fun. Though his less-than-brilliant ideas can sometimes get them into trouble (like when he insists on pestering Sandy during hibernation), he always livens things up, creating misadventure everywhere he goes. His and Spongebob’s friendship withstands the test of time, and Patrick keeps him laughing with his dim-witted antics.
