Kazuya Mishima

Kazuya Mishima

Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew up... son of Heihachi. Kazuya Mishima was the child of ruthless Mishima Zaibatsu corporate overlord Heihachi Mishima. To prove his son’s worth, Heihachi threw the 5-year-old Kazuya off a cliff. Kazuya survived but resented his father ever since.

Living... in Japan. Like his father, Kazuya is Japanese but has formally abandoned his nationality and citizenship.

Profession... head of G Corporation. After falling down a volcano in a fight with Heihachi, Kazuya’s remains were resurrected by rival company G Corporation. Kazuya wasted no time taking control of the company and using it to continue his fight with his father.

Interests… biotech research. At G Corporation, Kazuya oversees many radical, and unethical, biotech experiments. He even allows scientists to research his own unusual biology. He also enjoys collecting sneakers.

Relationship Status... separated. At the second King of Iron First martial arts tournament, run by Kazuya during his brief stint as leader of the Mishima Zaibatsu, Kazuya fell in love with Officer Jun Kazama. However, they eventually separated, and Jun went off to raise their son Jin by herself.

Challenge... controlling his Devil gene. Kazuya’s incredible powers come from a deal he made with the Devil. This also allows demonic forces to occasionally try and take over his body. However, through intense training and negotiations with his inner demons, Kazuya is now able to somewhat control his “Devil gene.” As he says, “The power of the Devil is now mine, and mine alone!”

Personality... corrupt. It was once thought that Kazuya would undo the sins of his father and reform the Mishima Zaibatsu. However, Kazuya is arguably an even more ruthless, corrupt, and evil ruler than Heihachi. Part of this may be due to the influence of the Devil, but maybe Kazuya was just always like this.
