Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew up... with his mother. Jin Kazama is the son of the diabolical heir to the Mishima Zaibatsu, Kazuya Mishima, and the kind-hearted Jun Kazama. Jin was raised by his mother until she was snatched away by the evil Ogre when Jin was just 15.

Living... in Japan. Like the rest of his family, Jin lives in Japan. And since he is a more respectable figure than his father and grandfather, he appears to still have his citizenship – unlike them.

Profession... head of the Mishima Zaibatsu corporation. Jin is the current leader of the Mishima Zaibatsu and is honestly committed to making it a more ethical company. However, it won’t be easy dealing with the baggage of his tainted family legacy.

Interests… avenging his mother. Jin was trained by his mother and infamous grandfather, Heihachi, in Kazama and Mishima style karate, respectively. He plans to use these skills to defeat the Ogre responsible for his mother’s disappearance. As he says, “I’ll teach you fear.”

Relationship Status... single. Jin has many swooning female admirers, such as fellow martial artist Ling Xiaoyu. However, due to concerns over his dark lineage, Jin is brooding and reclusive. This probably just makes him more attractive.

Challenge... controlling his Devil gene. Jin inherited his father’s connection to a mysterious evil force called the Devil gene. It increases Jin’s power but also threatens to completely corrupt him. But unlike his father, Jin has no desire to give into darkness, so he struggles to repress the demonic influence.

Personality... conflicted. Jin faces many internal and external battles. There are the corporate struggles that come with running a major company. There’s the long-standing family drama of the Mishima clan. Plus, there’s the struggle between good and evil literally raging in Jin’s soul.
