Overview... a construction worker on Earth in 2048 who’s about to embark on a very strange trip. Putting aside his troubling dreams of Mars and a mysterious woman, Doug decides to take a virtual vacation with a company called Rekall. There he has a memory chip implanted in his brain of pretending to be a special agent on Mars. Only something goes very wrong, and it turns out Quaid might really be a special agent from Mars after all. He doesn’t know who to trust, but it all has to do with Mars’ ruthless governor, Vilos Cohaagen, and the rebels fighting him – including the mystery woman from his earlier dreams.
Personality... paranoid, and with good reason. One minute he’s the apparent savior of the rebel cause; then, next thing he knows, he’ll be Cohaagen's bosom buddy. At this point, Doug doesn’t know whether he’s having a paranoid episode triggered by acute neuro-chemical trauma, or if he’s really a secret agent from Mars who's the victim of an interplanetary conspiracy to make him think he's a lowly construction worker on Earth. Neither possibility seems like a safe one.
