Since Naruto's dead father was the former leader of his village, Naruto is next in line. But as a 12-year-old, Naruto would rather pull pranks and eat ramen. As a (failing) student at his village's ninja academy, Naruto is assigned to a team with two of his fellow classmates, aloof Sasuke and intelligent Sakura. Under the leadership of mentor Kakashi, the unlikely trio must learn to overcome their differences and work together.

The 100 picks up the pieces after Earth was ravaged by nuclear war and 2,658 survivors moved to the Ark. Clarke Griffin knows that the Ark is running out of oxygen, which is the reason (though not the public one) that she and 99 other "Delinquents" have been shipped to the wasteland that is Earth. Trying to make the latter a "death scythe" and thus fit for use by the academy's headmaster Shinigami, the personification of death, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and one witch, in that order; otherwise, they will have to start all over again.

Young nobleman Ciel Phantomhive is determined to find his parents' murderers so that he can get his revenge by killing them. In order to do this, Ciel has made a pact with a demon—his butler, Sebastian. Sebastian will serve him faithfully until Ciel has accomplished his goal. At that time, Sebastian will eat his soul. Fair trade, right?
