Overview... popular high schooler who can’t wait for her eventual departure to an Ivy League school. With a life of relative social and financial ease comes a life of privilege. That means she doesn’t care about the problems affecting the rest of the family… unless it means she doesn’t have money to go out on the weekends. That’s a completely different story.
Personality... smart, confident, and self-absorbed. Well, no more self-absorbed than the average teenager. But Zoey has grown up under much nicer circumstances than her dad did in Compton. Her dad and grandparents are quick to point this out – but she’s usually got headphones in so she can’t hear them anyway.

Dre Johnson grew up in Compton, a tough part of Los Angeles. When he achieved success, he moved a few miles away to a nicer—but much whiter—part of town. He's trying to teach his kids to take pride in their heritage in a mostly-white environment. But his son cares more about field hockey than basketball, and his daughter's new boyfriend is not only white—he's French too!
