Zoey Clarke

Living… in San Francisco, California. Zoey has an apartment across from her good friend, Mo. Her family lives near the city, and she often stops by to visit. Unfortunately, her father Mitch has been diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), and Zoey struggles with the knowledge that their days together are numbered. 

Profession… coder at SPQR Point. Zoey is excellent at what she does. She is comfortable hiding behind a computer all day, coding away. However, when she gets promoted to manage her team, she is forced to step outside of her comfort zone and engage with her coworkers. 

Interests… music. Zoey isn’t necessarily a musical genius, but when a standard MRI goes horribly wrong, she awakes with the ability to hear people’s deepest feelings… in the form of song. People serenade each other on the street, and her boss professes her love for a man who isn’t her husband. Zoey might be the only one who can hear them singing, but she has a hard time bearing all of those secrets by herself. 

Relationship status… single. Zoey’s new position leads her to discover that her best friend Max has been crushing on her for months. She panics and sets him up with the local barista, but those butterflies in her stomach don’t seem to be going away. Zoey also is intrigued by Simon, a new coworker. After some innocent flirting, she discovers that he is engaged to another woman. Zoey is shocked by the news and says, “I just found out a guy I like is engaged, and I am either going totally nuts, or I suddenly can hear people’s innermost thoughts as big musical numbers.”

Challenge… coming to terms with her father’s inevitable death. She is grateful that she can spend time with him in his final days, but the dark cloud begins to consume her. Zoey is unable to see a future without him, and this makes it hard for her to think about anything else.

Personality… stubborn, determined, and loving. Zoey has a big heart, and cares deeply about her friends and family. Sometimes she fails to understand where someone else is coming from, and that can lead to discord. But she is always determined to find a way to fix things… for better or for worse.
