Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Profession… Lord of the underworld. It’s normally a quite dull job composed of filing paperwork for the countless souls entering the realm and dealing with the grievances of the millions more already there. Much to his dismay however, his job has gotten significantly more interesting due to the recent escape attempts of his rebellious son Zagreus.

Interests… his kingdom, combat, and music. Hades pays little attention to his relatives on the surface; he is perfectly content focusing on his kingdom and with more and more souls filling his halls, he has plenty to keep busy with. In his spare time, he hones his combat prowess for the rare occasions on which he might need it and enjoys listening to music. In fact, he even employed the legendary bard, Orpheus, to play as his court musician.

Relationship Status… in a partnership with Nyx, the aspect of night. Like most couples, they do come into conflict at times but when they work together to rule the underworld, along with Nyx’s children, they work smoothly and efficiently.

Challenge... his son, Zagreus. Hades didn’t tell Zagreus that Persephone is his true mother, and now Zagreus wants to leave the underworld to be with her. Hades can’t believe that Zagreus would rather be in the mortal world without him. After all, Hades believes he has given Zagreus the best life possible. This creates a lot of issues for Hades as his realm gets torn to pieces time and time again with every one of Zagreus’ fruitless escape attempts.

Personality… stern and authoritative. Hades has little time for the foolishness of others. He will employ the whole underworld to maintain the order of the realm, and nothing would make him happier than everything being in its right place.
