Xiao Mei

Grew up… in the chaotic political upheavals of 9th century China, during the decline of the Teng dynasty. Because of the ruling power's political wane, various insurrectionist groups have formed across the country, including the House of the Flying Daggers, which takes from the rich to give to the poor – much like Robin Hood.

Living… as the blind daughter of the head of the House of the Flying Daggers. When its leader suddenly dies, a new unknown head of the House comes to power. Two policeman, Jin and Liu, have been charged to find the identity of this new leader. Their plan to do so is pretty elaborate and risky.

Profession… dancer. Although she may be blind, there's more to her than meets the eye. While Mei is incarcerated by Jin and Liu, Jin pretends to rescue her from the prison by claiming to be the fierce warrior, Wind. Meanwhile, Liu stages a fake attack on the two of them.

Relationship Status… falling slowly for Jin, despite the fact that he's pretending to be someone else. The two become romantically involved, but is their love real or only a part of the act?

Challenge… staying alive. Although the first attack against Mei and Jin is a staged one, they then find themselves fighting for their lives when a real army surrounds them.

Personality… brave, mysterious, and poetic. Mei is more experienced, free, and wilder than the other girls around, which she tells Jin: "I don't want to compete with those other girls. The flowers here can hardly be called flowers. Real flowers bloom in the wilderness."
