Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Overview… a teacher at the prestigious St. Benedicts School for boys. “Mr. Hundert,” as his students call him, believes that History is the best teacher of character. His class, “Western Civilization: the Greeks and the Romans,” is one of the most popular at the school. Mr. Hundert hopes to impart “the highest standards of statesmanship, civic virtue, character…” onto America’s young elite. Though the privileged are often bound to be spoiled and, no matter what the lessons of History say, certain students will never really learn the importance of honesty and virtue.

Personality… upstanding and idealistic, yet humble. Despite his grand didactic tone in the classroom, Mr. Hundert is a modest man at heart: “I am a teacher, simply that.” It is his life’s mission to educate and instruct the future leaders of America – though there are bound to be some students who are incapable of heeding his word.
