William Foster

Living... in Pasadena, California. Since his divorce, he has been living alone. His ex-wife and young daughter Adele live in Venice, clear on the other side of Los Angeles.

Profession... unemployed. William used to work at a defense company called Nortec. But, he lost his job because he was overeducated and under-skilled. Believing it completely unfair, he says, “How'd that happen? I did everything they told me to. Did you know I build missiles? I helped to protect America. You should be rewarded for that.”

Relationship Status... divorced, but things are getting worse with his ex-wife. She recently took out a restraining order because she doesn't want him around their daughter. She didn’t even invite him to Adele’s sixth birthday party. William is going to go anyway, but the traffic was so bad that he had to leave his car on the side of the highway and walk there.

Challenge... making it through a day that is getting out of control. After leaving his car, he has dealt with many annoyances. First, he encountered a Korean grocer who wouldn’t let him make change for the payphone. (This was before cellphones.) And then he just missed breakfast at Whammyburger by three minutes. The day started to look brighter, at least in his mind, after he found a baseball bat and a gun. But not everyone agrees that it's a good idea for William to be armed.

Personality... frustrated and really angry. His rage has been pent up for so long, and he just can’t take it anymore. William is on the verge of exploding. Everything is coming to a head today, and there's no telling how it will play out.
