Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Overview… the charismatic founder of his own entertainment empire. Walt Disney loves nothing more than a good story. He’s particularly enamored with P.L. Travers’s Mary Poppins tales, which his daughters love, and he's determined to make them into a film. Walt has made a promise to his girls to make the magical nanny “fly off the pages” onto the big screen – all he needs are the rights. The uptight Travers, though, is not interested in allowing her character to be turned into a movie. Nor does she seem especially receptive to Disney’s charms, which are considerable.

Personality… jocular, informal, and kind. Mr. Disney is used to getting what he wants, so he's bemused when Travers refuses his offers. Out of loyalty to his daughters, however, he is willing to go above and beyond to convince Miss Travers to sign over the rights to her books.
