(Avoiding Spoilers)
Grew Up… as an orphan in the Under City. Violet is from the Under City, also known as Zaun. There is a rivalry between Zaun and the Upper City of Piltover. The Under City is grossly underprivileged because the Upper City hoards all of the resources and wealth. Violet was raised understanding that the people in the Upper City looked down on people like her from the Under City. But Violet is determined to change that. As she says, “One day… the city’s gonna respect us.”
Profession… vigilante. As a kid, Violet was a petty thief who went on heists with her sibling to find goods to sell. As an adult, Violet spent a large portion of her life unable to work because of the Under City's terrible economic and political state. The Under City was taken over by a dictator figure obsessed with achieving official independence from Piltover and destroying the Upper City. As much as Violet despises the Upper City’s neglect of the Under City, she recognizes that this dictator is maniacal, does not care about the safety of his people, and only wants to destroy Piltover as part of his personal revenge fantasy. She, in response, spends her time seeking to enact vigilante justice for his crimes.
Relationship Status… single. Violet is single, but she does have a crush on Caitlyn. It is not clear to Violet whether the feelings are reciprocated, but she grows very attached to Caitlyn after they work together to protect the peace between Piltover and Zaun.
Challenge… choosing between family and the greater good. The dictator of the Under City has a legion of supporters and his right-hand man is Violet’s sister Jinx. Violet and Jinx have been separated for years, but they still have an unbreakable familial bond despite being at odds with each other in the battle between Piltover and Zaun. Jinx wants to destroy Piltover, and Violet knows that she has to stop her. This complicates their sisterhood and has serious impacts on Jinx’s mental health. The trust between them fluctuates intensely and the feelings of betrayal and abandonment on both ends add another layer of difficulty for the two of them.
Personality… tough and independent. Violet is a natural when it comes to combat and conflict. She spent her entire childhood having to evade and defend against enforcers. She also lost her parents at a young age, so she was forced to be more independent and parental to her younger siblings. Violet is incredibly resilient and impresses everyone around her with her strength and perseverance in the face of any obstacles.
