Violet Barnes

Overview... a newly engaged psychology PhD grad. Though she feels a little guilty for spoiling his surprise, Violet is overjoyed to say yes to her boyfriend Tom’s proposal. But things get complicated when she’s accepted into the University of Michigan’s post-doctorate program. She knows it’s the right move for her career, but she feels bad asking Tom to uproot his life to follow her there – and for putting off their wedding for the two years it will take her to finish the program.

Personality... intellectual, anxious, and funny. Violet has a goofy, laid-back sense of humor that makes her the perfect partner for Tom. But underneath her casual exterior, she’s often anxious about life and fearful of settling for mediocrity rather than pushing for greatness. Thanks to her psychology background, she tends to overanalyze her feelings rather than act on them.
