Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Overview… an American on a European trip that is proving complicated. While working on her Masters in “Catalan Identity,” Vicky has decided to spend the summer with some distant relatives in Barcelona, Spain. The conservative and uptight Vicky, who is engaged to a successful man named Doug, has little tolerance for unrealistic “passion” and romance, and much prefers commitment. As a result, she is annoyed by her friend Cristina’s latest love interest, the sensual artist Juan Antonio.

Personality… conventional and practical. Vicky has “no tolerance for pain and no lust for combat.” She tends to prefer traditional romance and “the beauty of commitment” to tumultuous passion. Not that she is especially cold, though. She never ceases to be moved by Spanish guitar music and the architecture of Gaudi.
