Character Analysis

Overview... the smartest member of Mystery Inc., a group of four young people and their talking Great Dane who solve supernatural cases. While Fred does most of the talking and planning, Velma is usually the one who unravels the mystery first thanks to her wide-ranging body of knowledge and superior intellect. Her biggest weakness is that her glasses are forever falling off and she can barely see without them. Still, her intellectual firepower helps the team much, much more than her near-sightedness hurts it.
Personality... brilliant, modest, and comfortable in her own skin. Velma is all about getting results, not taking credit. She doesn’t mind that Fred is always going off with Daphne and leaving her alone, while Shaggy and Scooby are fairly useless slackers. Rather than complain, she strategically bribes the latter two with “Scooby snacks” to get them to help, often in spite of themselves. Velma is the unsung hero of Mystery Inc.
