About Him

Grew Up... with the Rakyat. Vaas was born a member of the indigenous Raykat tribe. However, while his sister Citra remained very close to her tribal roots, Vaas strayed from the path.

Living... in the Rook Islands. Vaas still lives in the Rook Islands, the ancestral home of his people. Some say it’s a place where you can do whatever you want, which naturally draws lots of privileged tourists.

Profession... pirate leader. After the diabolical drug dealer and human trafficker Hoyt Volker ravaged the islands, he saw the charismatic Vaas could be useful and decided to make him his right-hand man. Vaas now leads the pirates through fear and brutality.

Interests... drugs. After Volker’s arrival, Vaas became addicted to drugs, which might help explain his violent, unstable personality.

Relationship Status... single. Being an insane pirate doesn’t go over well with the ladies. But Vaas is still very close to his sister, and will even kill for her.

Challenge... ransoming kidnapped tourists. Through his underlings, Vaas draws gullible tourists to the islands so he can kidnap them and sell them back to their loved ones. However, things don’t go quite according to plan when he abducts Jason Brody and his friends.

Personality... brutal and deranged. Vaas is a sadistic psychopath who only brings destruction and pain. He even seems self-aware about this. As he says at the start of his numerous, lengthy soliloquies, “Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?”
