Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Living… in a derelict sea serpent carcass under the sea with her henchmen eels, Flotsam and Jetsam. She ostensibly lives under Triton’s rule in the kingdom of Atlantica, like the rest of the mermaids, but Ursula doesn’t seem to be such a loyal subject as the rest of them.
Profession… sea witch, helping mermaids get what they want by making magical deals with them. When mermaids are desperate enough to get what they want that they’ll risk being turned into a polyp, they turn to Ursula. She’ll get you whatever you ask for…as long as you accept the risks of reneging on the terms of the contract. And Ursula will make it very hard for you not to break her contracts.
Interests… herself, dark magic, stealing the souls of mermaids, and her henchmen. The only things Ursula appears to care for in the world other than herself are Flotsam and Jetsam.
Relationship Status… single. She feels no need for a romantic relationship, unless it’s to steal someone else’s lover.
Challenge… defeating Triton and becoming Queen of Atlantica. Although she used to live in the royal palace, she was banished from it and now seeks revenge on Triton. Ursula sees an opportunity to get her revenge when Triton’s daughter Ariel falls in love with a human. Now all she has to do is make sure Ariel can’t complete the contract that Ursula draws up for her…
Personality… flamboyantly and maliciously devious. Ursula makes deals where it’s nearly impossible for the other party to keep up their end of the bargain, and she isn’t above cheating to win. In fact, she seems to revel in manipulating other people. Ursula also has a high opinion of herself, even though she isn’t conventionally attractive. She claims to know exactly what men want, and certainly doesn’t have any trouble manipulating them either.
