Tyler Rake

Living… in The Kimberley, Australia. Rake lives by himself in a very small, messy home and there are a lot of pills, alcohol, and animals. He hangs out with his buddies Koen and Rata, who he often accompanies to go diving in the water. 

Profession… former soldier and mercenary. Tyler served in the U.S. Army in the Special Air Service Regiment where he acquired skills in combat and weaponry. Now Rake is a black market mercernary who does a variety of dangerous missions in exchange for financial compensation. He became affiliated with Nik Khan, who connects him with jobs to carry out. Rake has also befriended Gaspar, even saving his life at one point in past missions. Rake’s job requires him to travel all over the world, often having to call a very unfamiliar location home for an unspecified amount of time. For his latest mission, Rake has traveled to Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Interests… swimming and animals. Rake likes to dive and remain submerged underwater in order to build up his respiratory endurance. An animal lover, Rake shows great affection for his dog, and he loves having chickens in his home. 

Relationship Status… divorced. Tyler hasn’t seen his ex-wife in a long time. Ever since returning from service, Tyler has no interest in new romantic relationships. Rake dwells in the past, often thinking about his former wife and their son. He constantly thinks about his old life, even if it brings him great sorrow. And to deal with that pain, Rake drinks and take pills. 

Challenge… making it out of Dhaka alive with Ovi. Rake has been tasked with extracting Ovi (the son of a drug kingpin) when the entire city of Dhaka is under the influence of Asif, the leader of the cartel who kidnapped Ovi in the first place. With all the escape routes blocked and police and cartel members looking for him, Rake is faced with a physically and emotionally daunting task. Ovi’s father is in prison, leaving the door open for all his enemies to try and capture Ovi, in a battle of power in Bangladesh. The stakes are high but Rake never backs down from a job: “No one else is gonna commit to something this f-ed up.”

Personality… sympathetic, calm under pressure, and reflective. Rake feels for Ovi’s situation; Ovi’s father is a drug lord in prison who treats his son as property, inhibiting him from having a normal childhood. Tyler also shows great composure during moments of high stress and danger. Although Rake can deal with guns well, he has a harder time dealing with his own emotional issues.
