Todd Chavez

Grew Up… In Los Angeles, not too far from Hollywoo. He lived with his mother and stepfather until his mother kicked him out for his lack of direction in life and general laziness. The straw that broke the camel’s back, in her eyes, was his life-consuming addiction to the video game Decapathon.

Living… on famous ex-sitcom star Bojack Horseman’s couch. He crashed there one night after a Halloween party and never left.

Interests… video games, smoking weed, rock opera, wacky schemes, and playing the triangle.

Profession… none. Todd is not particularly ambitious. He’s perfectly content living rent-free in Bojack’s living room and letting himself get swept up into goofy hijinks (which happens frequently). Every now and then, though, one of his adventures will lead to an unexpected (and usually unorthodox) business opportunity. As he puts it, his life is like “a series of loosely related wacky misadventures.”

Relationship Status… single, and not really looking. He’s dated women here and there, but he doesn’t have a lot of interest in it, especially the sex.

Challenge… being misunderstood. Todd is satisfied with his life, but people around him often judge him for his lack of discernable life goals, like his parents and Bojack. Bojack is also something of a mixed bag—even though he lets Todd live with him for free and thinks of him as a friend, he is constantly berating Todd and putting him down.

Personality... a lovable slacker who is notoriously messy and lazy. Despite his lack of ambition and material possessions, Todd is upbeat and positive (something that frequently irritates Bojack). He jokes that he approaches life as his blood type: B Positive. Todd can be clueless, something that has gotten him into more than one sticky situation. But he also has an astonishing number of unexpected skills: he speaks Japanese, is quite musically talented, and has a surprising knack for getting ridiculous businesses off the ground (even temporarily). Todd is a deeply loyal friend, going above and beyond for the people in his life.
