Overview... a good-natured guy looking for a fresh start. Although Toby has a strong sense of self-confidence, he isn’t entirely satisfied with his life. So he starts attending a weight-loss counseling group, where he’s instantly smitten by fellow attendee Kate. Toby sets out not only to get healthier, but to win Kate’s heart in the process.
Personality... funny, kind, and enthusiastic. Toby is a fun-loving guy with a big heart, but he’s not afraid to go after what he wants. He prefers to live life to the fullest rather than approach things timidly. But by far his most defining factor is his sense of humor. Toby can make a joke out of even the most serious of situations.

This is Us features a group of characters who only have the same birthday connecting them to each other. They include Jack and his pregnant wife Rebecca; actor Kevin and his overweight twin-sister Kate; and commodities trader Randall. The plotlines are all different, but what is consistent about the show is that all characters are completely relatable.
