Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew Up... in Mississippi as Ronald Wilkerson. But Titus doesn’t like to talk about his small-town past now that he’s moved on to a more cosmopolitan life.

Living... in New York City in a dingy basement apartment with his brand-new roommate, Kimmy Schmidt. Titus is a pro when it comes to New York, which means he has plenty to teach Kimmy, who spent the past 15 years living in an underground bunker as part of a doomsday cult.

Profession... musical theater performer. But Titus doesn’t exactly have a thriving career. He’s been rejected from the Broadway production of The Lion King 10 times, and when he tried to stage his own version it was shut down for copyright infringement. So now he scrapes together a living by dressing up as Iron Man and taking photos with tourists in Times Square.

Interests... Pinot Noir, caviar, Myanmar, and mid-sized cars.

Relationship Status... single, probably. When he thinks no one is listening, Titus will occasionally drop hints about someone he left behind in his hometown. But for the most part, he’s always on the hunt for a good man. Just call him a “baby slut.”

Challenge... dealing with life. Titus isn’t exactly a go-getter and sometimes the world is just too much for him. When Kimmy asks for his help, he whines, “But I already did something today.” Titus is a talented performer, but he’s also his own worst enemy. In fact, he could probably find success if he spent more time auditioning and less time falling asleep eating Hot Pockets in bed.

Personality... melodramatic, self-centered, eccentric, and compassionate. At first glance, Titus is a beacon of over-confidence. He believes he knows his worth and he’s not afraid to boast about it. He once bragged, “I envy you. I've never been able to meet me.” But underneath his buoyant personality, Titus is constantly worried about whether or not he can actually achieve his dreams. And all that time spent as an underdog has also given him a surprisingly generous heart – so long as he doesn’t have to put too much effort in to helping people.
