Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Living… amid the hustle of the rapidly modernizing thirties. The city provides ample opportunities to experience the rush of progress, and the Tramp deposits himself squarely in the middle of the fray.

Profession… disgruntled factory worker. Trying to keep afloat, the Tramp puts in long hours at a monotonous position on an assembly line. He hates the work, and has a difficult time focusing long enough to keep the assembly line on pace.

Interests… singing, dancing, and relaxing. The Tramp doesn’t fit in well with the fast pace of the factories, instead preferring to enjoy lazy afternoons. He goes for walks, dances, and pays attention to the small things in life.

Relationship Status… single, but recently dating. The Tramp runs into an attractive young woman called The Gamine one day on the street, and the two fall madly in love. Spurred on by romance, the Tramp exclaims, “I’ll get us a house, even if I have to work for it!”

Challenge… getting back on track. The Tramp is overwhelmed by the frenetic speed of everyday life in the city. This, coupled with incredibly bad luck, means that the Tramp can’t hold a job very long, and experiences more than his fair share of misunderstandings with other people. Just trying to make it from one day to the next is challenge enough! But if he wants to provide for his new lady-love, he’s going to have to step it up.

Personality… enthusiastic and lackadaisical. The Tramp puts forth his best effort in everything he does, but sometimes his lack of awareness means that he doesn’t understand the implications of his actions. His easy-going attitude means that he can cope even when he gets into trouble, and a tenacious spirit keeps him motivated even in the face of tremendous setbacks. His vibrant imagination makes him prone to daydream, which gives him ambition but interrupts his daily activities.
