Taylor Mason

Living… as a non-binary person with a pronoun preference of “they.” Taylor doesn’t let gender define them. 

Profession… intern at Axe Capital, a hedge fund managing billions of dollars. Like everyone else at the firm, Taylor needs to impress CEO Bobby Axelrod to get ahead. Luckily Taylor’s intelligence is unmatched at the firm except perhaps by Bobby Axelrod himself. Taylor is an out of the box thinker who is also strategic and methodical. In a firm full of egos and machismo, Taylor always stays calm and carries on. 

Interests… tai-chi, poker, snarky comments, and gray vests. 

Challenge… reconciling idealistic ideals with ambition. Before joining Axe Capital, Taylor was involved in Occupy Wall Street, a protest movement against the economic inequality between the 1% wealthiest Americans and the other 99%.  But now they’re part of the 1%, they’re not sure where their allegiances lie. This comes to a head when co-worker Wendy says that a hedge fund is not about profits—it is about “lasting relationships, true loyalty, real trust.” But Taylor is wide-eyed about the truth. As Taylor says to Wendy,  “I’m pretty sure there’s only money. And it can buy all those things—or, at least, the same result. That’s what you and Axe taught me.”

Personality… quiet, radical, and self-aware. Taylor knows who they are and what they want. Taylor is truly fearless, undaunted by any setbacks. As he says, “I like nightmares. When I wake up, they leave me deeply valuing my reality.”
