Tamia "Coop" Cooper

Grew up… in Crenshaw, California, with Jesus-loving parents. Coop has always had to hide herself from her mother. The church choir after all would not approve her sexuality in the slightest. Her best friend Spencer has been her saving grace, keeping her from trouble throughout her childhood.

Interests... everything music. As she says, “right now music is my focus. It's my therapy.” Though Coop prefers to hide under Spencer’s shadow, music allows her to shine on her own. Coop grew up in the choir, and music has always been by her side. Just like Spencer, Coop also wants to make it out of Crenshaw. Music could be that route for her.

Profession... high school student. It’s tough for Coop to attend Crenshaw without the security of Spencer. Regardless, Coop finds her way by making strange alliances with people.

Relationship Status… in love. When Coop knows what she wants, she goes after it. Though Coop likes to keep a low profile, she will go above and beyond to make sure her girl is happy. Everything except…bringing her home to her mother. As much as Coop wants to be out with the girl she loves, she can’t risk criticism from her mother.  

Challenge... putting herself first. Coop is always doing the most for the people she loves. She feels the need to honor the people who do right by her. This causes Coop to prioritize others rather than focusing on herself. Rather than doing the work she needs to do, she is always trying to help others achieve their dreams.  

Personality... easy going, free spirited, and caring. Whether you want a wild night out or a chill night in, Coop is the person you go to. She loves to party and kick it like everyone else. Coop is also the best listener. Whenever everyone has a problem. Coop is always their soundboard.
