Character Analysis

Grew Up… best friends with Laurel Conklin. The two met each other when they were young and continue to be friends as adults. Susannah is always kind and excitable, but this is not a product of a worry-free life. She’s had and beat cancer once already, which she admits was an incredibly draining period of her life.
Living… in New York with her two sons, Conrad and Jeremiah. This summer, they’re spending time at her beach house in Cousins Beach, North Carolina,
Profession… unemployed. Susannah married wealthy and lives more than comfortably. She is very involved in her community and various charities.
Interests… painting. It’s a talent that Susannah shares with others, as she thoroughly enjoys painting portraits of people she loves.
Relationship Status… complicated. Technically, she is still married to Adam, the father of her sons, but their relationship has a lot of stressors.
Challenge… ensuring that her family and the Conklins have a fun summer. But it’s sometimes hard to keep up her smile when she is trying to deal with marital and health issues on her own. On top of her personal developments, Susannah is also witnessing so many changes among her sons and Belly. As she says, “Summer’s the same, we’re the ones who are changing.”
Personality… charismatic, social, and generous. Susannah is easy to love. She likes planning and taking care of things for others through acts of service like organizing Laurel’s book party and making Belly a debutante. (Susannah’s always wanted a daughter so taking care of Belly in any way makes her happy.) She is wealthy but never pretentious. She doesn't care if the kids walk into the house soaking wet and if someone is in need, she’ll be there.
