Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew up... as a member of the notorious Cooper Clan crime family. As a young raccoon, Sly was trained by his father to become a master thief just like his ancestors. Sadly, Sly had to finish his training himself, as his family was tragically wiped out by the rival crime gang the Fiendish Five. Sly spent the rest of his childhood in an orphanage.

Living... from job to job. Sly’s attempts to pull off bigger and bigger heists take him around the world and, occasionally, even across time and space.

Profession... thief. Sly continues his family’s legacy as the new head of the Cooper Gang. The gang includes his other thieving orphan friends like Bentley, the brains, and Murray, the brawn.

Interests… finding new adventures. For Sly, stealing isn’t just about the haul, it’s about the journey. He enjoys traveling to new lands and trying crazy new acrobatic techniques with his trademark cane to make his capers a success.

Relationship Status... in a complicated relationship. Sly often flirts with Carmelita Fox, who clearly has feelings for him as well. Sly has even made some attempts to start a serious relationship with her. Unfortunately, Carmelita is an Interpol agent, and that tends to put her at odds with Sly’s criminal lifestyle.

Challenge... becoming a true master thief and stealing back his inheritance. As the last of his clan, Sly strives to keep their dream alive by becoming a master thief worthy of his name. To do so, he’ll have to outwit the law and rival gangs, all while trying to recover what was stolen from the Cooper Clan’s Vault.

Personality... cunning, loyal, and cynical. Sly is a thief with a heart of gold. Though he often has a sarcastic comment for any situation, he’s deeply faithful to his gang. He may be a clever criminal, but he follows a strict honor code to only steal from people who deserve it. As he learned from his family’s ancestral guidebook the Thievius Raccoonus, “there's no honor, no challenge, no fun in stealing from ordinary people.”
