Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Living… in Hawkins, Indiana. Robin is hardworking and lives modestly, working a summer job and getting around her small town by bike.
Profession… slinging ice cream. It’s the summer of 1985 and Robin is working for Scoops Ahoy at the new hot spot in town, Starcourt Mall. She spends her days scooping ice cream and teasing her co-worker and former classmate Steve, who tries (and fails) to flirt with the girls who come by.
Interests… playing music and learning languages. Robin is in the Hawkins High School band and has been playing trumpet for the last 12 years. She’s also fluent in Spanish, French, and Italian. Her listening skills are top-tier, and without her, Steve and his friend Dustin would have never been able to translate the secret Russian message that Dustin intercepted on his radio.
Relationship Status… single. Robin doesn’t seem interested in anyone, but unbeknownst to her, Dustin is trying to convince Steve of how cool Robin is, which he objects to. She’s a band geek, after all, and he was the king of Hawkins High. Give it some time, though (and a couple of dangerous run-ins with Russian soldiers), and maybe they’ll grow to trust one another.
Challenge… cracking a Russian code. Bored by taking ice cream orders all day, Robin eagerly takes over translating the intercepted Russian recording, especially since Steve and Dustin weren’t making any progress on their own. Her curiosity wins out, and Robin is roped into a world of secret underground compounds and alternate dimensions.
Personality… funny, intellectual, and adventurous. Robin isn’t part of the popular crowd in school, but that doesn’t make her any less interesting. She’s witty and fun to be around unless you’re Steve at the butt of her jokes. Despite this being her first rodeo with the strange things that go down in Hawkins, Robin is quick to adapt and proves herself to be a loyal friend.
