Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Overview... the son of an English servant working for the aristocratic Tallis family, with whom Robbie grew up, at the beginning of the 20th century. He was practically treated as one of the children, and fostered close relationships with daughters Cecilia and Briony Tallis. Cecilia is Robbie’s age, and now that they are young adults, their relationship has become a bit more romantically complicated, as has Robbie’s relationship with the younger Briony, who is now discovering boys for the first time.
Personality... dashing, educated, and clumsy. Robbie doesn’t know how to express his newfound feelings for Cecilia in person, so he turns to writing her a letter. But that doesn’t mean Robbie is afraid to make a move via the written word. He’s the kind of guy who opts for old-fashioned romance. With Robbie, chivalry is still very much alive.
