Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew Up... uneventfully in Orlando, Florida. The most exciting thing that every happened to Quentin was the time a beautiful, vivacious girl moved in next door. As Quentin puts it, “The way I figure it, everyone gets a miracle. My miracle was I ended up living across the street from Margo Roth Spiegelman.” While Quentin and Margo were friends when they were kids, they moved into different social circles as they got older.

Living... a slightly humdrum life. Quentin is a good kid who always follows the rules—he gets exceptional grades, never goes to parties, and is too nervous to talk to girls. He believes: “Life for me was a well-oiled machine. Duke in the fall, kids by 30. Got it all mapped out. It sounds boring, for sure, but I like boring.”

Profession... high school student. And Quentin excels at that job, as do his equally nerdy friends, Radar and Ben.

Interests... playing in the high school band and pining after Margo.

Relationship Status... unhappily single. Quentin has been in love with Margo ever since he first laid eyes on her. Unfortunately, she barely seems to notice him anymore. That is until one night she climbs into his window and enlists his help on a crazy revenge mission.

Challenge... finding Margo. After their night of adventure, Margo mysteriously goes missing. But Quentin soon discovers several clues she left behind, which he believes might reveal Margo’s location. So Quentin sets about piecing together the clues and road tripping to find her, confident that Margo wants him to join her on her adventure.

Personality... intelligent, nerdy, and timid. From his parents’ point of view, Quentin is the dream teenage son. But he isn’t so sure he’s made the most of his high school years, and he envies Margo’s effortlessly cool life. Anxious by nature, Quentin can overcome his nerves when he really puts his mind to it.
