Overview… a fish out of water behind bars. Southerner Phillip was locked up after being convicted of auto theft. A self-described “blonde-haired, blue-eyed queer,” Phillip is not the type to do well in the can. Phillip is lonely and shy until he meets charismatic con artist Steven, in whom he finds a kindred spirit.
Personality… shy and gentle. The soft-spoken Phillip is the exact opposite of his eccentric and enthusiastic lover, Steven. His kindness has not suited him well for prison life– but luckily he’s got Steven there to help break him out.

Steve Russell (Carrey) is a small-town cop. Bored with his bland lifestyle, Russell turns to fraud as a means of shaking things up. Before long, Russell's criminal antics have landed him behind bars, where he encounters the charismatic Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor). Smitten, Russell devotes his entire life to being with Morris regardless of the consequences.
