Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Living... in King’s Landing, playing mind games with everyone. Everything he says has a double meaning. Reading between the lines is a prerequisite in even casual conversations with Petyr.

Profession... Master of Coin, aka the treasurer to King Robert Baratheon. Petyr is from a small and unremarkable noble family, but has proven himself as a financial genius. He’s made himself into one of the richest men in the Seven Kingdoms and has done wonders for the King’s flagging treasury. An enterprising businessman, Littlefinger has his fingers in all kinds of pies – from brothels to trade routes.

Interests… scheming, lying, and staying one step ahead of everyone else in King’s Landing. He tells Ned Stark, “Distrusting me was the wisest thing you’ve done.” Gutsy to say out loud, but absolutely true.

Relationship Status... pining for Ned Stark’s wife Catelyn. They knew each other as children and he always loved her. Now she’s happily married, but Petyr has enough schemes in place that if all falls according to plan, he can still win her over.

Challenge... clawing his way to the top. Petyr is a master political operator, and has worked his way up from being almost nothing to being one of the most powerful men in the Seven Kingdoms. He’s ambitious and has no intent to settle down and learn to appreciate what he has. He’ll keep scheming until he’s running the whole show, or dies trying.

Personality... clever, charming, and dishonest. Petyr raises duplicity to an art form, offering out tiny parcels of the truth as he maneuvers the great lords and ladies of the realm like puppets. While not a physically intimidating man, it would be unwise to dismiss him. With limitless ambition, a sharp mind, deep pockets and no scruples, the cagey Littlefinger might be one of the deadliest men in all of Westeros.
