Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Living… in New York. Most likely in an apartment covered in fraternity paddles, beer pong trophies, framed football jerseys, and an Animal House poster of John Belushi. (O.K., that’s a guess, but an educated one.)
Profession… OB/GYN at Shulman & Associates. Though, at first, Mindy Lahiri and the other doctors refuse to give Peter a chance, he eventually proves himself to be a calm, cool, confident, and – most importantly – competent doctor.
Interests… being a bro, sports, beer, ultimate fighting, basketball, drinking, and frats. In his own words, “I like to exude the masculine, party-ready energy that everybody expects from their OB/GYN.”
Relationship Status… single, for now. After breaking up with his fiancé, Peter puts on a brave face to cover his disappointment. He seems to enjoy focusing on fixing other people’s private lives more than his own at the moment.
Challenge… finding his place at Shulman & Associates. Though he quickly wins over most of the guys at the office due to his party boy attitude, he and Mindy have a sort of love-hate relationship that tips heavily toward the hate side. Through each other, they seem to learn a lot about themselves. Mindy sees how selfish and shallow she can sometimes be, while Peter is grasping how misogynistic and disrespectful to women he can be.
Personality… rude, brutally honest, amusing, and sometimes sketchy. Mostly due to his time as a frat boy, Peter treats women poorly and acts full of himself. Though he’s on the road to change as he spends more time around Mindy, he still refuses to give up some of his old ways. Maybe because he’s having too much fun.
