Character Analysis

Grew Up… In the mortal world with her mother Demeter, and countless nymphs. Her childhood was idyllic in a sense – she swam in rivers, wandered through blooming fields, and always had her friends nearby. But she also wasn’t allowed to speak to any other immortals, and her mother was fiercely overprotective.
Living… in Mount Olympus, finally! She’s made her way to the big city, after promising her mother she’d live with an approved roommate (Artemis) and securing a scholarship for college. She has her own room, and she’s living as an independent adult for the first time.
Profession… college student. She studied hard to win a scholarship from The Goddesses of Eternal Maidenhood (TGOEM), which was the only way her mother would let her attend college. She’s in the awkward position of being a full goddess attending classes with regular nymphs, dryads, and others, but also a goddess that no one knows after her mother kept her in isolation.
Relationship Status… very, very complicated. Her scholarship is dependent on her membership in TGOEM, pledging eternal virginity, but she’s not sure that’s something she wants. Her roommate’s brother, Apollo, has shown interest in her, and she’s also drawn to the King of the Underworld, Hades, who’s both kind and intimidating.
Challenge… becoming her own person. There are a lot of people who think they know what’s best for her, from her mother to her boss to the tabloids. She’s struggling with being on her own in a new city, starting college, a new job, and navigating romance for the first time. When a tragedy strikes, she needs to find a way to handle all that with added trauma and confusion.
Personality… bright, cheerful, and kind. Persephone loves books, cute animals, and nice clothes. She is easily delighted by the wonders of the world, but the cruelties hit her very hard, and she is sometimes paralyzed by her conflicting needs to do the right thing and to please others. On the outside, she’s naïve, but she has a core strength that enables her to keep going, and even to lead others to make change.
