Peggy Bundy

Grew up… in Wanker County, Wisc., although she attended Polk High School in Chicago with her husband-to-be, Al Bundy. Peggy has never really grown up. She spends her days watching television (particularly Oprah and Donahue) and eating bonbons.

Living… a twisted Norman Rockwell nightmare. Peggy’s only desire was to be become a housewife and raise children, which she envisioned as a domestic dreamscape. Instead, she married a grumpy shoe salesman and ended up with two back-talking teenagers who don’t respect her.

Profession… stay-at-home mom and housewife. She would probably say that being a Bundy housewife is pretty hard work: “If only you men knew what we do to keep a marriage alive. Watching Oprah all day so that we can have something interesting to talk to you about.”

Interests… television, shopping, and relaxing. Peggy will spend her husband’s hard-earned money on almost anything, even when the family is struggling with debt. She sees it as her wifely duty to spend Al’s money on the Shop at Home network.

Relationship Status… (sort of) happily married. Peggy, although irresponsible and immature, is a loyal wife. Despite receiving many advances from other men, Peggy would never cheat on Al, whom she still finds attractive after all these years. But it’s fair to say that neither of them work very hard on making their marriage better, preferring to snipe at each other instead.

Challenge… finding a way to avoid working for the rest of her life. Peggy loves her lifestyle, and she’s willing to annoy her husband to unprecedented levels to keep hold of it.

Personality… lazy, selfish and immature. In many ways, she's a lot like her husband Al. As she says, “We have no opinions on politics, religion, science, starving people, nuclear holocaust or recycling. The only thing we seem to feel strongly about is we both hate that painting behind Jay Leno.”
