Overview… a medical student with an unorthodox approach. Hunter “Patch” Adams isn’t as popular as he’d expected to be at the Medical College of Virginia. For Patch, medicine isn’t about healing a specific ailment; it’s about healing and counseling a full fledged human being. As he says, “We want to become doctors because we want to help people.” In order to do so, he’s taken to practicing the science of humor as well as medicine.
Personality… passionate, caring, and gregarious. Patch doesn’t have the ability to remain detached from his patients. His study of medicine is not simply academic, but is practical. His empathy, though controversial at the college, is what makes him a great doctor.
