Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Living… with his brother, Sans, in the calm town of Snowdin. Papyrus’ fanaticism clashes with the generally laidback attitude of the townspeople. This may be why most of the townspeople find him strange and prefer his more relaxed brother. Even though the townsfolk are friendly to him, Papyrus can feel lonely.

Profession… royal guard in training. Unfortunately, it seems like he’ll be in training forever. Papyrus’ dream is to become popular and loved by everyone by joining the human-hunting group, the royal guard. However, the head of the royal guard, Undyne, thinks he’s too kind to fill the position.

Interests… making puzzles and cooking spaghetti. What Papyrus lacks in skill, he makes up for in enthusiasm.

Relationship Status… single. Papyrus wants to be loved by all his fellow monsters, but he doesn’t show particular interest in finding romance. However, if you’re nice to him, you may be able to get a first date.

Challenges… making friends while being true to himself. Papyrus believes capturing a human is his ticket to popularity and having lots of friends, so he becomes a human-seeking fanatic. Although he’s not very good at the whole human capturing thing, he remains determined. As Papyrus says, “I will be the one! I must be the one! I will capture a human!”

Personality… flamboyant, confident, and kind. Papyrus is passionate about his interests. Not everyone appreciates his high energy and expressiveness, which may be why he’s not as well-liked by the townspeople as his brother, Sans. Despite this, he thinks of himself as a “cool” guy and continues to see the good in all people, even those that most others would stay far away from. With a smile on his face and a human-hunting obsession, Papyrus is determined to become popular and loved by all his fellow monsters.
