Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Grew Up… in Darkest Peru, with his Aunt Lucy and Uncle Pastuzo. They took him in after saving him from drowning and promptly filled Paddington’s life with adoration and marmalade sandwiches.
Living… in London with the Brown family. His Aunt Lucy passed on her love for the city to Paddington and sent him on a boat there with a note saying, “Please look after this bear.” Paddington is taken in by the Brown family after finding him at Paddington Station, and he feels very at home with Mrs. Mary Brown, Mr. Henry Brown, Mrs. Bird, and the two kids: Jonathan and Judy. Paddington likes to brighten up the neighborhood by reminding neighbors to grab their keys and bringing spare lunches for others.
Interests… making and enjoying marmalade, by itself or in a sandwich (he always keeps one in his hat, just in case). Paddington adores spending quality time with loved ones and is always ready for the next adventure.
Relationship Status… single. Paddington has a lot of love for everyone, but it’s platonic love.
Challenge… adjusting to life in London. Despite being such lovely company, many are skeptical of his character and assume that he would be dangerous due to his appearance. He is also used to a set of customs that are frowned upon in London, like climbing up the stairs on the railing instead of walking up. Paddington has made peace that he doesn’t need to fit in. As he says, “I'll never be like other people, but that's alright because I'm a bear. A bear called Paddington.”
Personality… wholesome, optimistic, and polite. But Paddington can be fierce when it comes to protecting what he loves. He’s not afraid to use a “hard stare” on people who have forgotten their manners.
