(Avoiding Spoilers)
Grew Up… in an orphanage. Oliver never had the nuclear family, white picket fence experience. His mother left him in her thirties and caused abandonment issues that would never leave him. He would grow up in an orphanage where his basic needs were met, but their strict rules against affection (to avoid spoiling any of the children) left him feeling unloved. Despite being surrounded by children at the orphanage, he was incredibly lonely.
Living… on the East coast, in a home on his own.
Profession… psychiatrist. He decided to pursue psychiatry to better understand himself. In medical school, Oliver met a woman who would start a macabre hobby of his that he would become addicted to.
Interests… a fascination with the human body, taking care of children, and making furniture. He doesn’t sell any furniture that he makes, but he displays pieces around his home. His most proud possession is a lamp that has a shade made out of human skin.
Relationship Status… single. Rather than a traditional romantic partner, Oliver cares the most about filling the void left by his mother. He comes across women that appear fit for this role, but he is very picky and cuts off the ones that do not meet his standards.
Challenge… currently tasked by the court with diagnosing the Bloody Face Killer, Kit Walker. This diagnosis is a weighted one, as Oliver’s decision will influence whether Kit will be treated as someone with a mental illness or a criminal.
Personality… neurotic and intelligent with a dark side. Oliver has a cool exterior, but he has never gotten over the scars left by his childhood. While he makes a living advising patients over their mental issues, he has quite a few mental problems himself. As he admits, “I’m clearly insane.”
