Overview... a man in hiding that has still been found by trouble. A doctor in his home country, Okwe was forced to flee Nigeria after being falsely accused of murdering his wife. Now an illegal immigrant in London, he drives a cab by day and works at a hotel by night. After learning of his manager’s illegal operation of selling organs on the black market for forged passports, Okwe is forced to choose between two lives lived at the margins of society.
Personality... guilt-ridden, compassionate, and damaged. He still lives with remorse for leaving his daughter and causing his wife's death. Best intentions have never been enough for Okwe; things seem to go wrong anyway. He’s not in London to get rich quick, only to lead an honest and virtuous life, with hopes that he could one day provide the same for his daughter.

An urban hotel in London is a gathering and flash point for legal and illegal immigrants attempting to cobble together their lives in a new country. The immigrants include Senay, a Turkish woman, and a Nigerian doctor named Okwe who is working as a night porter at the hotel. The pair discover the hotel is a front for all sorts of clandestine activities. Their only wish is to avoid possible deportation. Okwe becomes more entangled in the goings on when he is called to fix a toilet in one of the rooms. He discovers the plumbing has been clogged by a human heart.
