Character Analysis

Living… in Southeast England with his single mother and older brother. While his mother is kind and loving, Nick’s brother can be quite cruel.
Profession… student at Truham Boy’s School. Nick is a decent student, but he is mostly known for being the “rugby king” at school. He’s part of the popular crowd at school, but Nick doesn’t always feel himself around them.
Interests… animals. Nick loves all animals, including his dog, Nellie.
Relationship Status… single. Nick has his share of admirers, including a popular girl named Imogen. But lately, all he wants to do is to spend time with Charlie Spring, a boy who he sits next to in a class. They’ve become close friends, and Nick recruited him to play on the rugby team with him.
Challenge… figuring out his sexuality. Charlie is openly gay, and Nick is starting to question his own sexuality—especially given the feelings he’s starting to develop for Charlie. After taking an online quiz to determine his sexuality, Nick discovers he is 62% homosexual. As he says, “Honestly I’m having a proper, full-on gay crisis.”
Personality… kind, selfless, and cool. While those are admirable qualities, Nick can be so selfless that he sacrifices his own happiness repeatedly. Nick would do anything for the people he cares most about, but he also needs to be true to himself.
