Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Overview... a man with a confidence problem. Namely, he’s got far too much of it. Nick has trouble seeing his own inadequacies as an actor. He considers himself to be a born thespian, capable of playing all roles in the play of Pyramus and Thisbe. Luckily, Bottom gets what he deserves when Oberon, king of the fairies, transforms the conceited actor’s head into a donkey’s.

Personality... self-important, loud, and dramatic. Nick Bottom is a bit of a narcissist who believes that the most beautiful women in the world are capable of falling in love with him. All of this makes it very difficult for the quiet, nervous director, Peter Quince, to work with him.
