Mrs. Krabappel

Living… in a rut. A bitter teacher at Springfield Elementary, Edna Krabappel has yet to get her life in order. She smokes her way through hard days at school, putting up with a broken schooling system full of budget cuts and incompetent students. This life definitely wasn’t what she had in mind when she moved to Springfield. If she had things her way she’d be married with children by now and never have to see one of her lousy students again.

Profession… elementary school teacher. She gets drunk on the job and generally neglects her responsibilities. Possibly due to the fact that her students—especially bad apple Bart Simpson—don’t want to learn anyway. Principal Skinner rarely scolds her for her bad conduct, but that might be because they lead a semi-secret love life in the janitor’s closet.

Interests… smoking, drinking, listening to Aerosmith, and berating her nerdy student Martin Prince.

Relationship Status… complicated. She’s been through it all – engagement, divorce, and infidelity. All of Springfield seems to know about her desire for a good man and her willingness to do just about whatever it takes to land Mr. Right.

Challenge… finding the love of her life. Before meeting Principal Skinner, she was in a serious relationship with bartender Moe Szyslak. But even that went sour before true happiness was hers.

Personality… desperate, and a bit sleazy. It isn’t just Principal Skinner kissing her in the janitor’s closet. Although she often laments her singlehood, she’s been the apple of many a man’s eye. In the words of Sideshow Bob, “You only get one chance with Edna Krabappel!”
