Grew Up… as a precocious child. The young Victor Fries showed a fondness for science, especially in the experimental field of cryogenic freezing. He grew up to become a celebrated doctor and won a Nobel Prize in the field of molecular biology.
Living… with a debilitating condition. After accidently falling into a vat of cryo-fluid at his lab, Victor found himself unable to survive in anything but subzero conditions. In order to sustain himself, he created a special suit that encases his body in an icy chill. As he says: “In this universe, there’s only one absolute… everything freezes.”
Profession… former scientist, but Victor has turned to a life of crime. Mr. Freeze, as he’s now known, has embarked on a spree of robberies in order to fund his research.
Relationship Status… widowed. Years ago, when Victor’s wife, Nora Fries, was diagnosed with a degenerative illness, he chose to leave her in suspended animation while he researched a cure. In anguish, Victor has become incredibly bitter: “If I must suffer, humanity will suffer with me.”
Challenge… finding a cure for his wife’s illness. The heartbroken Mr. Freeze is willing to go to any lengths to find funding for his research, even if it means being a criminal. Luckily, it turns out that the former Nobel Prize-winning doctor has a talent for robbery. He just has to be wary of the vigilante hero Batman, who is dead-set on stopping Mr. Freeze’s crimes.
Personality… ruthless, intelligent, bitter. Mr. Freeze is no less dedicated to his work now that he’s using his scientific genius for evil rather than for good. As he threatens: “I will blanket the city in endless winter. First Gotham, and then the world!”
