Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Grew Up… partially in the Matrix, a complex computer program designed to emulate real life, a kind of virtual reality. Luckily, unlike most humans who remain inside the Matrix until their deaths, Morpheus was taken out of the Matrix at a young age. Unfortunately though, the real world is a desolate place where the danger of killer robots lurks around every corner.
Living… as the captain of the Nebuchadnezzar, a large flying ship. The newest member of his crew is Neo, whom Morpheus believes to be The One, the prophesied person who will save the human race from the robot tyranny. Humans are harvested like batteries for their energy, and Morpheus is at the forefront of a secret group of people living in Zion, a free land, where they plan to wage a war against the robots once and for all.
Profession… captain of the Nebuchadnezzar. Morpheus spends most of his time dodging robot search parties in the real world, and searching for potential crew members in the Matrix, who might be able to help in the war against the robots.
Interests… administering red or blue pills, training new recruits, and teaching kung fu. Morpheus enjoys demonstrating his leaping abilities, and reminding Neo, “Do you think that’s air you’re breathing?”
Relationship Status… single. Morpheus is too wrapped up in his quest to find The One to have time for romance.
Challenge… saving the human race. Though this is not entirely up to Morpheus, as he must first locate The One, and then put all of his faith in that one person, without truly knowing if he (or she?) will even be able to save them.
Personality… intense and determined. Morpheus’ commitment to his crew is a unique trait that makes his crew love him as much as they look up to him for his wisdom and skills. Morpheus is something of a legend in Zion, the final remaining stronghold of the human race, for his single-minded dedication to the fight against the robots.
