Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew up… with her mother, who took good care of her. When she began working as a housekeeper, she experienced a traumatic event with one of the men who lived in the Murder House, where she worked. The man’s wife found out and lashed out at her husband and at Moira. Another couple that occupied the house ended up committing a murder-suicide, and Moira both found the bodies and cleaned the house after.

 

Living… in Los Angeles, on her own.

Profession… housekeeper for the Harmon family, the newest tenants of the Murder House. Moira has worked in this house for a very long time, and warns Vivien, the new mother in the house, that old houses have feelings and if they are not treated properly, they will be unkind to you. Moira doesn’t get along with Constance Langdon, the Harmon’s neighbor, due to conflicts in their past that Constance is still holding a grudge against her. Constance often threatens to falsely accuse her of theft to put her at risk of losing her job. 

Relationship Status… single. Moira has faced a lot of mistreatment from men and is not interested in starting a relationship anytime soon. As she says, “I'm not naive to the ways of men. Their need to objectify, conquer. They see what they want to see. Women, however, see into the soul of a person.”

Challenge… her mother, who is in poor health and unable to visit. This worries Moira greatly.

Personality… secretive and kind. Due to her trauma, Moira is not outspoken, but she doesn’t keep quiet when she has information that could help someone. She is protective of the Harmons, especially Vivien, who has always been good to her.
