Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Living… in an apartment by herself in Tokyo. Originally from Kyoto, she moved to the city in hopes of meeting Kira, a mysterious vigilante who murders criminals to rid the world of evil and avenge those who were failed by the justice system.
Profession… successful model and actress. Also known as Misa Misa, she can often be found filming or doing photo shoots. Misa has a large, adoring fan base, though it sometimes causes more harm than good.
Interests… fashion and attention, particularly that of Kira, who killed the man who murdered her family. After getting close to Kira, her only goal is to aid and (most importantly) be loved by him.
Relationship Status… single. But she desperately hopes that will change, professing her love and devotion for Kira.
Challenges… staying undiscovered and helping Kira do the same. After her life is saved by a Shinigami (God of death), she inherits his Death Note, a notebook with the power to take human lives provided the writer knows the person’s name. Misa teams up with Kira and plays a somewhat significant role in hiding their identities. She also makes a deal with Rem, the Shinigami connected to her Death Note, to see people’s names and lifespans, allowing her to kill more easily. She tells Kira that she will be his eyes.
Personality… bubbly, childlike, and rather obnoxious. Misa is devoted to Kira, and dangerously so. She has no qualms about halving her own life span or putting herself at risk if it means she has a chance of finding him. Misa often remains giggly and upbeat, only growing upset when she is insulted or Kira says something she doesn’t like. However, her idealistic and cutesy remarks often take on darker tones in sinister situations. When Rem tells her a Shinigami can only die if they fall in love with a human, Misa remarks “What a wonderful way to kill…”
